Description
Biloxi Light is said to be the South's first cast metal lighthouse and is well known for being kept by female lightkeepers for longer than any other lighthouse in America.

There was a rumor that the tower was painted black after Abraham Lincoln died in order to mourn him, but that is not quite the case. Rather, it was just to protect the tower from rusting. In 1869, it was returned back to its original white color in order for it to be more noticeable.

The light is in the median of Highway 90, less than half a mile from the intersection with Interstate 110.
