Description
Mobile Point's first light at Fort Morgan was a brick tower that unfortunately met its demise on August 5, 1864 during a battle of the Civil War. Following the war, a wooden tower was built in its place until the 30-foot iron tower was built in 1873. In 1963, a new steel skeletal tower was built and the iron tower was removed from its location to be destroyed. Fortunately, it was returned back to Fort Morgan, where it can still be seen today.
