Description
Fenwick Lighthouse was built in 1858 to warn ships away from the Fenwick Shoal. The lens that magnifies the light was imported from France. First the light burned whale oil-later kerosene. At the present time the light operates automatically by electricity.

Pros:
Easy to access, no hiking required
Cons:
Large fence around it, not close to water
Fenwick Island Lighthouse is situated in a residential neighborhood without a view of the water. It is a historic lighthouse and is a good lighthouse to visit if you are already in the area, but I wouldn't travel too far out of your way to see it, especially if it is at a time when the tower isn't open.

Pros:
Tower appears to be in good shape.
Cons:
Can not climb the tower
We got to look in the door way but were not allowed even to stand inside the tower.

I lived in Delaware for three years,so I drove by this lighthouse almost everyday. Although I was never inside I did take some photos. This is one of my favorite lighthouses.
