Description
The Coquille River lighthouse is located in Bullard's Beach State Park across the river from Bandon. The grounds of the lighthouse are open to visitors. Access to the park if from US 101 north of Bandon. The lighthouse can also be seen across the river from Bandon.
The lighthouse was established and manned in 1896 and had a 4th order Fresnel lens. The lighthouse was in service until 1939 when it was decommissioned by the USCG. Since my visit, the stuccoed exterior of the lighthouse has been redone and the color scheme changed from the all white shown in the posted photos to red and white. The red is based on colors found in layers of stucco when restoration work was being done.
