Description
Point Pinos Lighthouse is located in Pacific Grove on the south side of Monterey Bay. The lighthouse was established in 1855 and has a 3rd order Fresnel lens in its tower. The original stone tower was badly damaged by the San Francisco earthquake in 1906 and was replaced by the present reinforced concrete tower. Point Pinos is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse in California. The grounds and lighthouse are open to visitors and are extremely picturesque.
