Description
Fort Point Lighthouse stands atop a fort guarding the south side of the entrance to San Francisco Bay and now stands beneath the south ramp onto the Golden Gate Bridge.
The first lighthouse was built on this location in 1853. The second was a wooden structure atop the three story fort. The third and present light is the 27 foot cast iron lighthouse that now stands atop the fort.
