Description
The lighthouse stop Partridge Island was established in 1791. The present red and white vertical striped lighthouse was constructed in 1960 and automated in 1980. Access to the island requires permission from the Canadian Coast Guard.
The photos posted were shot on two separate occasions from the upper decks of the MV Carnival Victory entering or leaving St John harbor. The closeup was shot, handheld, at a focal length of 900 mm. The lighthouse was freshly painted between when the photos were taken in July of 2007 with the weathered paint and the freshly painted lighthouse shot in late September 2008.
