Description
Boon Island, which sits ~9.5 miles off York Beach, is obviously best seen by boat. If you visit the light at Cape Neddick after dark or before dawn, look just to the right of Nubble Head. The flash that you see on the horizon is Boon Island. The tiny dot in the posted predawn photo of Cape Neddick is Boon Island. That said, at a focal length of 1500 mm or with binoculars, you can make out the tower on Boon Island, which is now maintained by the American Lighthouse Foundation (ALF).
