Description
Mile Rocks was built atop a rock that constituted a navigational hazard on the south side of the entrance to San Francisco bay. The top of the rock was blasted smooth to provide a flat building plane. The light was established in 1906 and all but one of the upper tiers of the light was removed in 1966.
