Description

A brick lighthouse with a keeper's residence was established in 1858, the light becoming active in 1859. The current lighthouse was built in 1912 and is comprised of a columned granite memorial surrounding a cylindrical brick tower. The light has been inactive since 1926 when the keeper's residence was demolished.

In 2004, the State of New York announced that funds had been made available to restore the lighthouse for the 400th anniversary of Champlain's 1609 exploration of Lake Champlain that now bears his name.

Good views of the light are also possible from Chimney Point State Park on the Vermont side of Lake Champlain, which is relatively narrow at Crown Point.

Pros:	Pretty structure
Cons:	Doesn't light up for decoration

You can go inside this lighthouse; but only in season. It could do with a decorative light.
