Description
This is one of the newest lights on the Great Lakes. Light shone from its lantern room for the first time on August 20, 2005.
The light was formerly a "decoration" in one of the interstate rest areas in lower Michigan and was given to the city of St Ignace by the Michigan Dept of Transportation after the light was dismantled in 2004. The light was re-erected at the end of the old Chief Wawatam dock and now guides pleasure boaters into the St Ignace Marina.
