Description
Granite Island Lighthouse stands atop a small granite island 12.5 miles north of Marquette. The lighthouse was built of granite and limestone in 1869 with an integrated square 40' tower. The light was automated in 1939 and began to fall into disrepair. The lighthouse and island were sold in 1999 to Scott Holman who has completely restored the lighthouse. The lighthouse is now a private residence.
