Description
Active. Standing 112 feet tall, the skeletal tower dates from 1880 was disassembled and moved to this site in 1929. This light's original optic was replaced by a rotating airport type beacon in 1957 and the original lens is now on display at Apostle Island Park headquarters in Bayfield. Both this and the first light were intened to guide traffic in and out of Bayfield and Ashland. Access is gained by local tourboats from the cities of Bayfield and Ashland.
