Description65 foot conical tower near the mouth of the Umpqua River. Has a distinctive flash (2 white, 1 red) due to red panels mounted to the outside of the 1st order Fresnel lens.
Lighthouse is located just south of Winchester Bay in the Umpqua River State Park. Follow signs from Highway 101 into the state park to the lighthouse.
Tours from the old Coast Guard building just north of the lighthouse are available from May 1 to October 31 daily between 10 AM and 4 PM. Coast Guard building houses a museum about the lighthouse and Coast Guard at Umpqua River. Tours and museum are run by the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department or the Douglas County Museum. Call (541) 271-4631 or (541) 957-7007 for schedules and information. Small fee required for tour. Museum free. Donations accepted.
While on the tour, you have an opportunity to climb a ladder that puts you inside the rotating Fresnel lens.
