DescriptionThe Cheboygan River front range light was built in 1880 to facilitate navigation into the Cheboygan River. The light is exhibited from a square tower atop a two story frame building essentially in downtown Cheboygan and surrounded by industrial buildings, which makes photography extremely difficult without an ultrawide angle lens (and the attendant perspective distortion, which was corrected in the posted photo during post processing. A perspective correction or tilt/shift lens would be useful in photographing this light if you happen to have one when you visit). The wooden rear range light tower was replaced in 1900 by a skeletal tower.
