DescriptionCedar Point Lighthouse was built in 1839 to mark the eastern approach to Sandusky Bay, serving with the Marblehead lighthouse built in 1822 marking the western approach to the bay. The original lighthouse was a stone building with an octagonal tower extending above the roof line. The lighthouse was officially decomissioned in 1904; the USCG used the property until 1975 when it was abandoned. The present lighthouse is a replica built by Cedar Point Amusement Park. When you photograph the present replica, you can see the roller coasters of Cedar Point in the background.
