DescriptionThe Peche Island lighthouse was originally erected in 1908 as the rear range light marking the down bound channel from Lake St Clair to the mouth of the Detroit River. The foundation beneath the light was no longer supporting the light, causing it to lean. It was decomissioned in 1982 and replaced by a skeletal tower. The USCG relocated the light to Marine City at the insistence of local residents where it now stands in a park along the shore of the St Clair River.
