DescriptionFour lighthouses have guided mariners into the Oswego river, the first built in 1822. Subsequent iterations occurred in 1836 and then 1867. The present lighthouse was built on a 50x50 crib that is part of an extension to the west pier in the 1930's. The present lighthouse was put into service in 1934. The exposed position of the lighthouse on the pier subjects it to storm-driven waves on Lake Ontario, which will become a target of my lenses whenever a good storm with big waves coincides with when I can drive the 6 hrs north to photograph.
The lighthouse can be accessed by walking the pier or it can be viewed from several points in Oswego along the river. The views posted with this description were shot at a range of focal lengths up to 1400 mm.
