DescriptionThe Hudson-Athens Lighthouse stands in what are known as the middle ground flats in the Hudson River between the towns of Athens and Hudson City. The lighthouse is, however, closer to the Hudson City (eastern) side of the river although in my opinion it is easier to photograph from the west side of the river if you have longer lenses.
In 1982 the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society was formed and now maintains the lighthouse and offers occasional tours. The photographs shown were shot from the west side of the Hudson on South Franklin Street up a small hill from NY 385 (S. Washington St)
