DescriptionFaro Punta Brava (also known as Punta Carretas) stands on a sandy point of land east of downtown Montevideo and is the furthest southern point of Uruguay. The tower is unpainted stone around which the stuccoed keeper's quarters is wrapped in a rather unusual manner. The bottom of the tower also has a rather unusual but esthetically pleasing shape.
The lantern room is white with vertical red stripes. The tower is still an active aid to navigation.
