The ruins of what was Whale Rock Lighthouse stand atop a wave washed rock the projects out of the waters off Narragansett. The lighthouse was a cast iron spark plug type lighthouse that stood atop a rock masonry base. The lighthouse was built in 1882 and swept away by the great hurricane of 1938.
