DescriptionThe Punta Duprat lighthouse is one of the harbor lights of Valparaiso. The octagonal concrete tower is located on the knuckle (or bend if you prefer) of the Chilean Navy breakwater pier. The light has a red lantern and a horizontal red band on the upper part of the tower. The base is pyramidal.
The light from Punta Duprat welcomed us as we sailed into the pier at Valparaiso before dawn. A photograph of the light as we were making our way past the Chilean Navy breakwater pier is among those posted, the light from the lantern reflecting on the dark waters of the Pacific. There are two other shots taken from the upper deck of the Splendor as we were being moored to the pier. Unfortunately, my view was somewhat obstructed by the bridge of a container ship moored at the pier between where I was and the lighthouse itself.
