DescriptionA light was established on a dangerous shoal in 1868. The light is a round, cast iron tower painted white with black trim. The lantern exhibits a white flash every 2.5 sec with a red sector indicating the shoal in the river.
The light is visible from Conimicut Park in Warwick and is accessible only by boat. A state dept of transportation grant of $560,000 was made available to restore the light in 2005.
I photographed this light on a foggy morning. The best views and photographs from Conimicut Park are, of course, in the afternoon, which means I'll be photographing this light again some time when I'm in the area.
