Description
Killantringan lies on SW coast of Scotland on the Rhinns of Galloway it is 4 miles from Port Patrick and 18 miles from the coast of Northern Ireland. The Craigantlet crashed into the rocks in 1982; the weather was calm and the incident was attributed to human error. Because of the risk of toxic cargo, the lighthouse keepers and their families were forced to abandon the station. The Principal Keeper attending only to put the light on at night and off in the morning. Eventually, the keepers returned home after about 6 weeks absence. After a period of automation, the lighthouse became unlit in 2007
