Description
Sule Skerry is the most remote lighthouse in Britain and is about 40 kilometers from the nearest habitation. Sule comes form the Norse for gannet and though no gannets nest on Sule Skerry they do nest on close by Sule Stack, Stack is a rock outcrop and Skerry is a larger rocky island. The island lies on the fringes of the Pentland Firth so you could say that the island and the lighthouse are guardians of the Firth.

Puffins burrow in the soil and there is a substantial colony there.
