DescriptionThe DeWatteville Front Range Light was established in 1927 on the southern end of DeWatteville Island. The light is paired with the rear range light to guide ships into the deep water channel that parallels the Canadian shore in this part of the river.
The original tower was circular white with a red upper portion. The light exhibits a fixed white dioptric light at a focal plane of 19.5 feet.
In 1992 the light was improved with a triangular orange day mark with a black vertical stripe.
The third image shows the front range paired with the rear range which has an inverted fluorescent orange triangular day mark with a black stripe. When the stripes are vertically aligned, as they are in this photograph, the vessel is in the channel. The fourth image shows the shore and the relative locations of the front and rear lights.
